Nwafo Dolly Sorel, aka Lydol was born in Yaoundé in 1994. She got involved with music and culture whilst at secondary school. In 2010 she won a national competition in the slam category. From there, she started performing at the Goethe Institut, the Centre Culturel Camerounais and other venues around the city. In 2013, Lydol represented Cameroon in Angola at the Spoken Word Project, and the following year she performed at the Poetry Africa festival in South Africa.

Since 2015, in partnership with the Goethe Institut in Cameroon, Lydol has been involved with organising Science Slam Cameroun. She also moderates the “Style Haut à Pen” writing workshops and leads the jury of the Slam Party interschool competition.

Lydol released her debut album ‘Slamtherapie’ in April 2018. Her pen is often melancholic. Her venture into slam was not a conscious decision; over time, she just realised that her work can be categorised as such. She enjoys collaborations, and strives for slam to go beyond the intimate settings of the workshops scene.

Lydol is a fan of music, theatre, dance and soccer. She is also working on a PhD thesis after completing a Masters Degree in Economics at University of Yaounde.
