Live from Uganda comes a fresh and exciting young band, raised in a traditional African background and influenced by Western culture. Qwela musicians come up with a unique fusion of traditional African and contemporary Western music. They cater to a section of society that is not impressed by the flood of digital and recycled music. The group of young musicians, playing popular contemporary renditions four years ago, has become a fully-fledged live act with a following on the threshold of a musical revolution in Kampala.

Qwela took the award for best live band at the 2010 Pearl of Africa Music Awards and were named Top Live Act of 2009 by the New Vision Band Survey. They have performed at Bayimba International Festival of Culture and Arts, Blues Fest, The World Cup opening in Kampala 2010 and Qwela Rhythm & Life concert at Serena, which received raves reviews. They have performed alongside artists like Kenyan singer, Eric Wainaina, The Villagers Band (Kenya), rock band Riff Raff (Ireland), Amp Fiddler (Detroit), Kinobe and Soul Beat Africa (Uganda), Claire Phillips (South Africa) and Jonas Soul from Denmark.

Currently Qwela hosts jam packed evening shows in various venues throughout Kampala several times a week.
