Matimba Arts Founded in 2001 Matimba is a youth group based in Kinondoni district, Dar es Salaam. Formed by 19 young artists they play a variety of different traditional dances from various regions of Tanzania, contemporary dances, acrobatics, theatre and choir. The group performs mainly in educational campaigning events around Tanzania as well as tourist hotels and public events.
What makes this group so special is the fact that all the artists are very young and extremely creative. They communicate with the audience, are energetic in their renditions of a variety of different styles of traditional ngoma. Don't miss their "Africa Dance" whilst throwing and catching firesticks and performing acrobatics!
