Grace Matata is a Kilimanjaro Music Awards nominee and afro-soul singer/songwriter from Tanzania. She describes her music as “a unique blend of Swahili soul, RnB and jazz with a special touch of poetry and light, heartwarming melodies”.

Grace has garnered a considerable and loyal fan base since dropping her single “Free Soul”, which shook the airwaves and made her a force to be reckoned with. She released her first critically acclaimed album entitled Nyakati in 2013. Some of her successful singles include “Wimbo”, “Uwewangu”, “Hello”, on which she collaborated with Maua Sama; and “Tabibu” being a duet with bongo flava/zouk songbird, Mwasiti, “Utanifaa” ft. Emmagripa, which ranked highly in radio charts across Tanzania and East Africa. Her latest release “Dakika Moja” ft. Wakazi also has major media attention with its video currently being featured on MTV Base.

Grace Matata has created a living legacy as one of Tanzania’s few female live music performers. In this respect she has put together an impressive 4 Elements band and shared stages or collaborated with A-list artists including Didier Awadi (Senegal), Lady Jaydee (Tanzania) and Wyre the Lovechild (Kenya).

Highlights of her career include performing at Zanzibar International Film Festival in 2014, Zanzibar Beach & Watersports Festival in 2015 and DoaDoa Uganda in 2016.

Grace currently has a residency at The Coffee House Sessions at Woodberry Café Dar es Salaam, where she performs every second Saturday of the month alongside some of Tanzania’s most promising upcoming musicians.
