Richie Lumambo is a guitarist, singer, songwriter from Tanzania with soaring vocals and his own unique guitar style. His music is inspired by Tanzanian traditional music styles as well as Western soul grooves.

His band brings together youthful musicians to successfully showcase talents of his new generation. A powerful East African groove drives their songs that always convey messages of strength and hope.

Lumambo studied classical guitar at Dhow Countries Music Academy (DCMA Zanzibar) for three years, where he and fellow students formed the Mapanya Band, who performed to great acclaim at Sauti za Busara 2018 and 2020. In the meantime, during 2019 he released a solo single, entitled Safari, combining voice, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, violin and trumpet in a moving and lush production.

Richie Lumambo performs regularly in Dar es Salaam. Other festival shows include Bagamoyo Festival 2019, 2020 and Marafiki Festival 2020. He also teaches his own brand of music therapy, in firm belief that music has the power to calm and nourish stressed and troubled minds.
