Blinky Bill's music is a mix of futuristic African beats, meeting funk, pop, hiphop, electronica and hint of jazz. His first solo album, 'Everyone's Just Winging It and Other Fly Tales' was released at the end of 2018. The title expresses the idea that human beings float through life doing their best - sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing - and that our existences have their share of upsets. The album features several excellent, spontaneous and productive collaborations, most notably with Sampa the Great, Petite Noir and Nneka. Other guests include personalities from the Kenyan scene, including Muthoni the Drummer Queen and Sage.
Blinky Bill first arrived on the East African music scene as song-writer and lead vocalist with Kenya's ground-breaking alternative act Just a Band. He has participated at SXSW, USA (2012 & 2015), Ted Global, Brazil (2014), Red Bull Music Academy, Tokyo (2014), Paleo Festival, Switzerland (2016), Design Indaba, Cape Town (2017), Mama Festival, France (2018), Sakifo Festival, Reunion (2019), Bushfire Festival, Eswatini (2019) and other high profile events across the Continent.
