The FRA! band is a group of young people from different backgrounds in Accra, Ghana, who are all united by one language; the language of music. The name “Fra" comes from the Akan word which means "mix" and this is an analogous representation of their music. Their sounds hinge on technical prowess, melodic phrasings, playful lyricism and progressive roots, based on the group’s Afrocentric sensibilities.
FRA!’s first single, ‘Dumsor’ (local Ghanaian word describing the persistent power outages) was released in 2016. This was soon followed by their exuberant single, ‘Happy Yourself’. The band released its maiden album 'FRA!TERNITY' in 2018.
FRA! band seeks to build an enviable career in Ghana’s music scene, through dedicated song writing and production. They have frequently collaborated with Kyekyeku, who continues to be a valuable and inspiring mentor for the group. As winners of Casa Africa's Vis-a-Vis project, FRA! toured Spain during July 2019, where they performed at more than a dozen music festivals.
