Press Accreditation

Press Accreditation form will be available from Monday 05 September 2022, and you will receive notification end December.
Advance registration is mandatory for all media professionals; it will not be possible to apply on site.

Accreditation is granted only to professionals assigned by recognised media. You may be required to provide evidence from the editor of your organisation confirming you are assigned to cover the festival.

Ordinarily, accreditation is limited to THREE places per media organisation.

There are THREE types of Press accreditation: PRESS pass, PHOTO pass, VIDEO pass. Please apply for the one that is correct for you. Places are limited and we cannot change your pass after it is issued.

PRESS pass benefits

  • interviews with festival artists (by arrangement)
  • use of festival press centre
  • access to press conferences
  • access to Movers & Shakers networking sessions
  • free use of official festival photographs for publication (see conditions)

PHOTO pass benefits

  • as PRESS pass (see above), plus:
  • permission to take professional photos of the event
  • use of tripod
  • access to the photographers’ pit (immediately in front of the stage)

VIDEO pass benefits

  • as PHOTO pass (see above), plus:
  • permission to shoot professional video of the event
  • use of ancillary equipment eg microphone, tripod-stand, extra lighting
  • more than one person, “additional crew”

  • No drones allowed
  • On stage or backstage access is not allowed
  • Professional film crews operating outside the Old Fort will need a film permit from the Zanzibar Government Department of Information.
  • passes can only be used by the accredited individual, i.e. they cannot be transferred to another person
  • In the event of misuse, the festival reserves the right to revoke accreditation at any time.
  • Due to limited budget, we are unable to support travel, accommodation or subsistence expenses for accredited media.
