Bob Maghrib is a collective of musicians launched in 2011 who represent Morocco’s current music scene. The collective revisits Bob Marley’s most revolutionary, pioneering songs.
The collective’s approach to their style of music is to marry the rhythms and melodies of Bob Marley and the Wailers with the rhythms and melodies of Morocco. In this creative process great care is taken in order not to change or replace but merge the two cultures that are very close to their common African origin.
After touring Morocco, Egypt and Europe, the collective is working on their first album with their own compositions. The album will have a unique sound that connects North African music such as Gnawa and Berber with Jamaican rhythms.
