Evon is a soul, blues and jazz singer-songwriter who has spent more than ten years in the Ugandan underground music scene. Over these years, she has crafted her own style of combining soft, soulful and playful lyricism and blues with other local styles. Her musical influences include Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Kina, Ella Fitzgerald, Laura Mvula and Amy Winehouse.
Evon’s music career began in 2004 when she was selected as Uganda's first and only representative at a Project Fame talent show in South Africa. Since then she created a soundtrack for Uganda's popular television series “The Hostel". In 2011, she had her first big concert in the unique and unusual setting of Uganda's rainforest.
Her first album 'Lullabies for A Lion' was released in Sweden in 2015. It is a personal tale about overcoming insecurities and fears as a young African woman. Stripped bare and uninhibited, it is a statement that it's alright not to be the perfect image for any mould.
