Senegalese kora player, percussionist and lead vocal, Nomoucounda Cissoko weaves together his griot heritage with mbalax, blues, jazz, hip-hop and rock inspired improvisations. He is a perfectionist, committed artist and with a sense of improvisation and extraordinary adaptation.
International tours of this great artist allowed him to participate in several art events along with other world-renowned artists such as Youssou Ndour, Ky Many Marley (son of Bob Marley), Ira Colman (bassist Herbie Hancock) Ernest Ranglin, Alpha Blondy, Omar Pene, Red Rats, Princess Erika, Lara Fabian, MC Solaar and Stromae (album 2013).
He graduated from the Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Art in Dakar, following four years of studying kora and dance. His mastery of rhythm and melody make this one of the most gifted musicians of his generation.
"Faling" is his debut solo album and features Cissoko accompanied by Swiss musicians, Phat 4, who add shades of jazz and reggae to the acoustic mix.
