Country Zanzibar Genres traditional taarab Festival Sauti za Busara 2020 Nassor Amour Abdallah aka Cholo Ganun the founder of Rahat Zamaan Taarab Orchestra is renowned for his exceptional talent; he is the youngest professional ganun player in East Africa. In Sweden during 2003, Cholo Ganun won Best World Musician Award; of a hundred contestants, he was one of only two nominees from the whole of Africa. At home, he scooped Best Zanzibar Musician Award for four consecutive years, during 2010 to 2014.
Currently Cholo is Director of Music at Nadi Ikhwan Safaa Taarab Music Club. Meanwhile his side project, the Rahat Zamaan Orchestra is a smaller and therefore more portable group that includes the famed singer Muharam, Siti bint Saad's great granddaughter, and other young talented Zanzibari musicians.
